House fire damages Meridian house

- Investigators have not determined the cause of a fire Thursday evening on 5th Street in Meridian. The fire affected only a portion of the home.
The Meridian Fire Department responded to a house fire Thursday night, reporting no injuries and a significantly damaged home.
Just before 6 p.m. the fire department received the call about a fire on the 3700th block of 5th Street, according to Meridian Fire Marshal Jason Collier.

Collier said the home was significantly damaged, meaning between 25 to 49 percent of the home had been affected.
Collier did not know if anyone was inside the home at the time of the fire, but reported no injuries.
“Everyone was accounted for and no one was injured,” Collier said. “And that’s the important thing.”
Investigators have not determined a cause.
