Truck fire temporarily stops traffic on Highway 19S

A truck carrying logs started smoking Wednesday morning, temporarily rerouting traffic north of Southeast Lauderdale High School.
The driver stopped on Highway 19 South around 7:15 a.m. and escaped the vehicle without injuries, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Andy West.

“We’re not sure of the cause,” West said. “We just stopped traffic so we could put it out.”
West said traffic resumed shortly after.
