An ensemble of military and civilians from Naval Air Station Meridian sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative Service Friday. 

The event was one of many local events celebrating Dr. King’s legacy. On Monday, the NAACP prayer breakfast start at 8 a.m. at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park. Later, the annual parade starts at noon at the Meridian Public School District’s Central Office, at 1019 25th Ave. Floats will line up at 10 a.m. The parade will end at city hall with a speaker. On Jan. 21, the annual MLK Scholarship Gala will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the MSU-Riley Center.
