Lauderdale County felon pleads guilty to firearm possession

A Lauderdale County man accused of a federal firearm crime has pleaded guilty to the charge.
Marvin Naylor, of Daleville, pleaded guilty Monday to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
Naylor admitted to possessing three firearms on Nov. 10, 2015 in Daleville. At the time, Naylor was a convicted felon.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents, along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Mississippi Department of Public Safety SWAT Team and East Mississippi Drug Task Force personnel, executed an arrest and search warrant at his residence on Club Road in Daleville. At the home, officers found three firearms, including two stolen firearms, and several rounds of ammunition.
Law enforcement arrested Naylor, who admitted to possessing the firearms. He will be sentenced on March 20.
At the time of his 2015 arrest, Naylor also faced numerous felony charges, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
Officers uncovered approximately six grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, five assorted weapons and other stolen property during the raid, according to the MBN.
In addition to the firearms charges, Naylor was also charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a bowie knife by a convicted felon, as well as possession of stolen firearms. Naylor also faced sale of methamphetamine charges stemming from MBN cases opened earlier in the year, according to the MBN.
The Department of Human Services was notified at the time that Naylor also faced child endangerment charges. He allegedly sold and possessed methamphetamine, needles and other drug paraphernalia in the residence in the presence of an 8-month-old boy and a 4-year-old boy, according to the MBN.
The firearms case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin Jr.
