“I am excited about the opportunity to engage students in investing in their own futures through this art contest,” State Treasurer Lynn Fitch said. “Doing the artwork gets them thinking about all the great possibilities ahead in their lives, and saving for college helps them achieve those dreams.”

The contest is open to all Mississippi students, whether in a classroom, through an afterschool program, or by homeschooling. This year, the classroom or teacher with the most entries will win an additional $100 MACS scholarship to be distributed in the manner he or she determines.

“Our goal through College Savings Mississippi is to provide families across this state an affordable way to save for college, and with the average cost of tuition continuing to rise, we hope this scholarship is a step forward in building that foundation,” Fitch said. “Students who are better prepared for their future are helping create a stronger workforce and economy for Mississippi.”

A $529 MACS scholarship will be awarded to the first place contestant in each of the following age categories: Pre-Kindergarten-second grades, third-fifth grades, sixth-eighth grades, and ninth-12th grades.

A second place prize of a $250 MACS scholarship and third place prize of a $100 MACS scholarship will also be awarded in each age category.
