Submitted photoNewton Municipal School District Superintendent Dr. Virginia Young, left, presents a Christmas gift of $1,500 to Wayne Herrington, administrative director of Anderson Regional Cancer Center, for the center’s benevolence fund to help local cancer patients. The school district raised money during October the past four years to contribute to Anderson's Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund. According to Young, the majority of the money was raised by elementary school students.
