LCSD honors teachers, administrators and staff

Teachers and Administrators of the Year for 2016 were honored at a recent meeting of the Lauderdale County School Board.

Brent Pouncey, Special Education teacher at Southeast Elementary, was recognized as Lauderdale County’s Teacher of the Year. Pounced will represent the district in the state level competition.

Kayla Weir, a teacher at Clarkdale Middle School, was honored as Middle School Teacher of the Year, while Kim Davis of Southeast High School, was recognized for the high school level. Two administrators from Lauderdale County were also honored: John Lisenbe of Clarkdale was named the Elementary Administrator of the Year, while Russell Keene of Southeast was recognized at High School Administrator of the Year.

An award was also presented to Cindy Linton, MSIS manager, for Outstanding Support Staff of the Year.

The Pinnacle Award, which is given to an employee of the district who goes above and beyond in service to others, was awarded to Trent Airhart, Technology director. Barbara Jones was also honored for her recent award as Mississippi School Board Member of the Year. Members of the community were also recognized for their commitment to the Lauderdale County Reality Fair, an annual event for eighth-grade students designed to teach the importance of financial management. Bo Pittman, CEO/President of MUNA Federal Credit Union, Debbie Smith, President/CEO of Meridian Mutual Federal Credit Union, Kim Gianakos of Ad Astra, and Terisa Pittman and Sheri Thornton, Northeast Middle School, were among those honored.
