The Citizens Bank warned customers on Tuesday that some imposters had used the bank’s name and telephone to gain personal information from customers.

“As Christmas draws near and fraudsters try to figure out new ways to obtain your information, please remember the bank will never call you and ask for your personal information,” the bank said in an email to customers. 

Callers attempt to gain account information from customers by impersonating the bank.

The bank said it would only inquire about account information if the account holder initiated the call.

“Fradusters can spoof any financial institution or business telephone number, so please be vigilant and protect your personal information!,” the bank stated.

The Citizens Bank advises customers receiving these calls, or any other suspicious activity, to call the bank at (601) 656-4692 so special instructions can be placed on the account.
