- Man wanted for questioning in fatal shooting
A man police sought in connection to Sunday morning’s fatal shooting on Russell Drive voluntarily came into the Meridian Police Department for questioning around midnight Wednesday.
Police released a photo of the man Wednesday evening.
On Sunday a passerby found a man with a single gunshot wound to the head lying beside a still-running, rented Chrysler 300 on Russell Driver near the Highway 39 overpass. Police later identified this man as Iam David Simon. An initial investigation revealed that Simon, not a native of Mississippi, had just left JJ’s Club on Russell Drive before his death.
Police said they suspect robbery because of Simon’s missing wallet.
Police reported Tuesday that they were trying to determine why Simon had been in the area and searching for witnesses who were with Simon that evening.
Police have not released any additional information on the man questioned Wednesday night at this time.
Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Crimestoppers at (855) 845-TIPS.
