Bailey Baptist Church founded Oct. 5, 1958 is dedicated to preaching the pure Word of God as contained in the Holy Bible. 

The first pastor was Rev. R.H. Fitzgerald. Deacons at that time were Marvin Brown, Vernon Gentry and Ralph Trussell. Charter members included Marvin O. Brown, Jewel Brown, Ralph Trussell, Ora Maude Trussell, Vernon Gentry, Imogene Horne and R.H. Fitzgerald.

In 1959 Pastor Fitzgerald received a calendar with a  photo of the Christ Episcopal Church in St. Simon Island, Ga. The congregation was so impressed with the building that they modeled the sanctuary after it.  The sanctuary is in the shape of a cross. The first service was held in the new building on the first anniversary of the church on October 4, 1959.

The church later added on Sunday school rooms and a fellowship hall in the late ‘80s. The addition of “The Landing”, a youth and multi-purpose building located behind the sanctuary was completed early 2000. It features a kitchen, a stage, an office, a costume room and areas for lounging and small group meetings.

A small congregation who believes in the power of prayer, Bailey Baptist church feels it is the job of every Christian to “go tell” others and share the Gospel.

Every fifth Sunday there is an evening service that features special outside music and a fellowship with food afterward. At 5:30 p.m. Dec. 11, the church will be celebrating Christmas with a feast and fellowship. At 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, there will be a special brief Christmas service.
