JACKSON – The music surrounding the Woodstock Music Festival will be brought to life by the acclaimed singers and musicians of the Jeans ‘n’ Classics Band in concert with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Nov. 19 at Thalia Mara Hall.

“Woodstock: Real & Imagined” will begin at 7:30 p.m. This is a return engagement for Jeans ‘n’ Classics, who performed with the symphony last season in a James Bond-themed concert.

There is an enduring appeal to the music surrounding Woodstock, along with a bit of rock ‘n roll gossip and infamy attached to the festival. Many rock ‘n roll luminaries were invited to perform at the Woodstock Music Festival but declined. Woodstock: Real & Imagined opens with the songs and stories of the no-show invitees, and includes works by The Doors, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, The Byrds, The Moody Blues. The evening continues with groups who appeared at the festival, including Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Who, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, and Jefferson Airplane.

Tickets for Woodstock: Real & Imagined begin at $18 for adults and $5 for students, when accompanied by a paying adult. Advance tickets may be purchased on-line at www.msorchestra.com or by calling 601-960-1565 or by visiting the MSO office at 201 East Pascagoula St. in downtown Jackson, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The box office will open at Thalia Mara Hall (255 E Pascagoula St.) at 6:30 pm on the evening of the concert.
