Dwayne Barnett

East Central Community College freshman running back Dwayne Barnett of Gulfport is the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Southwest Mississippi Community College Oct. 29.

Barnett, a product of Harrison Central High School, rushed for a career-high 227 yards on 38 carries and a touchdown in the 42-13 East Central win over Southwest Mississippi. 

On the season Barnett has rushed for 957 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games.

East Central, champions of the MACJC South Division, are getting set to host the defending national champions, Northwest Mississippi Community College, in an MACJC state semifinal playoff game at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bailey Stadium in Decatur.
