Zachary Demeche Amos, 38, of Meridian, was charged with kidnapping and burglary, police said. He is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center where bond has been denied, MPD Sgt. Dareall Thompson said.
The incident happened in the 2400 block of 43rd Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday.
The suspect is accused of forcing his way into the residence, pointing a handgun at the victim, who he knew, threatening her, then forcing her into his vehicle, Thompson said. She was released by the suspect shortly thereafter, Thompson said.
“Investigators were able to make an arrest on information the victim provided,” Thompson said. “This is not the first time we have received a 911 call on this subject. We responded to a disturbance at that same address just the day before. This has been an ongoing issue with him.”
Thompson said Amos had prior warrants for fleeing and eluding law enforcement with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
