RCA falls to Evangel Christian 66-14

After a 66-14 loss to Evangel Christian out of Alabaster, Ala., Friday night, Russell Christian Academy will turn its attention to a conference matchup at Tuscaloosa Christian next week.

But if the Warriors want to have a better showing, RCA head coach Nate Ballard said they have to improve a lot in a short amount of time.

“We didn’t execute on defense and didn’t block on offense,” Ballard said. “We learned we are not where we need to be.”

RCA finished with 6 rushing yards on 34 attempts, and the Warriors were 6 of 14 in passing for 132 yards.

Drew Taylor went 5 of 10 in passing with 117 yards and a touchdown, while Taylor Woods led in receiving with three receptions for 49 yards. Chris Walk had a catch for 29 yards, Caleb Tanner had a reception for 27 yards and Jared McMullen had a touchdown catch for 27 yards.

Logan Sayers finished with nine carries for 19 yards on the ground.

On defense, Alex Dubose led with 13 tackles, while Taylor finished with 12. Tanner had seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
