Ken LaBruyere and Mary Anne Catlett gear up for today’s spring festival at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, during which Cajun-style boiled shrimp, potatoes, mushrooms and corn on the cob will be the main attraction. The annual event is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the North Meridian church, which is located at 3937 Poplar Springs Drive. Shrimp plates are $9; dine-in or take-out available. Delivery available in Meridian for orders of five or more plates, call (601) 485-5598, ext 122. In addition to shrimp, baked goods (cakes, pies, cookies and homemade breads) and frozen dishes (including a wide variety of casseroles – meat and vegetable – and chili) will be sold.
