A love story

There is a sizzling love affair taking place near the Family Health Clinic The location is important in case of needed blood pressure and heart rhythm readings, or Vitamin B-12 shots and the such. It has been 50-plus years and the couple is still madly in love.
One block down from their little corner of the world is Wally-World, which provides never-ending or almost never-ending essentials for the lovers – oh my, there is not enough space to list them all. I will only list the top five:
1. Antacid
2. Sleeping pills
3. Pain reliever
4. Tooth-related items
5. Chocolate and Chitterlings
Around the corner is Winn Dixie. The love-birds shop at this location two times per day – not that they eat that much, but they enjoy window-shopping, especially the produce and meat departments. However, the two darlings agree that nothing taste the same anymore. If only they could remember Granny Harrison’s blackberry pie recipe and as well Mama Caldwell’s ham and egg pie dish. No, it’s just not the same.
The sweet couple is in complete agreement pertaining to entertainment – Comcast! They sweethearts must never miss Good Morning Meridian, Jeopardy, The Wheel of Fortune, Everybody Loves Raymond, Antiques Road Show and the Cooking Channel. Oh, and all of their “stories,” and a great deal of the Weather Channel.
The loving couple will never miss any edition of The Meridian Star, checking the obits first. Once seeing their names not listed, the twosome read city and county arrests and Deputy Ward Calhoun’s Crime Net. Oops, Crime Net is on Comcast – nevertheless, the couple stays on top of local crime.
Once a month the timely ride into downtown is made, cashing retirement checks, plus stops at each of the following: drugstore, post office, Wally World, and a trip to gas-up the car – don’t forget doctor’s appointments. It’s a busy life, however with the two of them making-the-list-and-checking-it-twice; the darlings get it all done.
Sunday morning is a special time – arriving early to church, enjoying Sunday School in the Couples Class, donning choir robes and singing in the senior-adult-choir. Sometimes there is dinner-on-the-ground and a special music program in the afternoon. It’s wonderful.
Not to forget Tuesday morning exercise class, Wednesday morning bible study, and Thursday afternoon craft-classes. With all of the busyness, the sweetheart couple (husband and wife) felt a need to make a list:
In the morning, the alarm clock on our bedside table will not jingle/jangle at 5 am, unless we choose to rise at that hour.
Thank you, Lord.
There is not a job for us tomorrow, unless we want one.
Thank you, Lord.
We don’t have to deal with people who think “the only way is their way.”
Thank you, Lord.
We have enough money to pay my bills.
Thank you, Lord.
We have fantastic medical insurance (dental and drugs).
Thank you, Lord.
The only people we have to see tomorrow (or the next day and the next) are the ones we choose to see.
Thank you, Lord.
We have friends who really love me.
Thank you, Lord.
Our family is the best ever – ask us about the grandkids.
Thank you, Lord.
Our cherished spouse will “knock the head off” of whomever would dare to “mess” with us.
Thank you, Lord.
Our church and church family are kind and loving.
Thank you, Lord.
We claim the Lord, Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Thank you, Lord.
We do not deserve any of these Blessings.
But thank you, Lord, for your gracious and loving ways.
But when that time comes to journey through the Pearly Gates, one will hold their sweetheart’s hand as he or she leaves this world to wait for their darling to join them on the-other-side. Do not despair; it has been a wonderful and contented life for these love-birds. But the best is yet to come:
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.
