Prep soccer roundups: Southeast boys win, Choctaw Central girls fall

The Southeast Lauderdale High School boys soccer team advanced to the MHSAA Classes 1-3A North State finals with a 2-1 win at North Pontotoc High School Saturday evening.
Andrew Bernard won it in a sudden death round after the game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and remained tied after two overtime periods. He scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of the sudden death, or golden goal, period. Jesus Hidalgo had the assist on Bernard’s goal.
Bernard had both of his team’s goals, with the first one coming in the first half to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Southeast Lauderdale (13-4-2) will return home at 6 p.m. Tuesday to host the North State title game against Forest High School. In the event of inclement weather, the game will move to Wednesday.

The Choctaw Central High School girls soccer team’s season ended in the second round of the Classes 1-3A playoffs.
The Lady Warriors ended their season with a 17-3-1 record.
