With elections approaching in March, voters in Clarke County are being encouraged to update their residence information with the county.

The county’s voter rolls haven’t been updated since 1986, according to Dora McKenzie with the Clarke County Election Commission.

Starting in February, all voters in the county will receive a post card listing their residence and address. If that information is correct, the resident does not have to reply. If any voter at the address has moved, the card needs to be marked ‘return to sender” and mailed back to the Election Commission or the circuit clerk’s office. Residents are asked to include the new address, if it is known.

The rolls are being updated for the upcoming primary election, which is March 8. A runoff, if necessary, will be March 29. The general election is Nov. 8, with the runoff, if necessary, planned for Nov. 29.

On the ballot will be candidates for president and vice president, the U.S. House of Representatives, Supreme Court justices, the Court of Appeals, levee commissioners, and depending on the county, election commissioners and school board members.
