JACKSON – Two Meridian area senators will continue their leadership roles in the state Senate, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves said Monday.
Sen. Videt Carmichael will serve again as chairman of the Insurance Committee, which handles issues related to the insurance industry. Carmichael, R-Meridian, represents District 33, which includes Clarke and Lauderdale counties.
Sen. Sampson Jackson will serve again as chairman of the Corrections Committee, which addresses sentencing issues and the state’s prison system. Jackson, D-DeKalb, represents District 32, which includes Kemper, Lauderdale, Noxubee and Winston counties.
“Both Sen. Carmichael and Sen. Jackson have extensive experience as legislators, and I appreciate the insight they bring to their roles,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said.
