The Tigers (3-8) will play Wesson today, while Pearl (9-6) will face off with Jackson Prep in the final day of the Holiday Classic.

“I feel like over the course of the game we matched their intensity in the second half,” Moore said. “They (Southeast) played very hard and pressed us the whole game, and it was giving us problems.”

Indeed it was. At one point in the second quarter, Pearl turned the ball over on three straight possessions due to the Tigers’ full-court press.

Southeast only trailed 26-21 at halftime, but the Pirates opened the third quarter on a 10-4 run and never had the lead cut under seven points the rest of the game.

Brandon Boston and Isiah Brown each had 16 points to lead Pearl.

“In the second half, we turned up the intensity and played our offense,” Boston said. “We needed to be more aggressive, and I think we were in the fourth quarter.”

Dale Morris led Southeast with nine points.

“Right now, we are just trying to find our nitch,” Tigers coach Centel Truman said. “Come district play, I feel we will be fine based off us playing 6A and 5A schools.”

Timara Trussell led the way with 15 points as the Lady Tigers (9-3) ran past the Lady Panthers (0-11).

Kimesha Hopson added 13 points for the Lady Tigers.
