Authorities investigate robberies

Authorities in Meridian and Lauderdale County are investigating two separate robberies.
In Meridian, police are are looking for a man who robbed the Subway restaurant on Hwy. 39 Monday night.
A black male entered the restaurant around 7 p.m.wearing a black pullover, robbed the store of cash, then fled on foot, according to Meridian Police Detective Dareall Thompson.
Thompson urges employees to observe what people are wearing when they enter businesses.
“If something just don’t look right, keep an eye on them,” he said. “It is particularly bad this time of year. Just be cautious.”
Thompson said there were no customers in the store at the time, and there were no injuries. The case is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened early Tuesday morning.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said about 1 a.m. the Cefco in Lauderdale was robbed by two individuals. Calhoun said the first suspect entered the business, and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk handed over the money, and the robber exited the business in less than 30 seconds.
The man was dressed in all black, and his face was covered with some type of black material, according to Calhoun. The second suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie with an orange ski mask, stayed outside during the robbery, he said.
According to Calhoun, the suspects ran in a northbound direction away from the store. No one was injured in the robbery, which remains under investigation, he said.
