Edward “Sonny” Vance

    Funeral services for Edward “Sonny” Vance will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church with Bro. T.J. Jennings, Bro. Charles Davis, and Bro. David Sellers officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Mr. Vance, age 75, of Collinsville, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Sonny was an active member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and he was the chairman of the Cemetery Committee. He was district engineer at MDOT where he was employed from April of 1963 until his retirement in March of 1999. He graduated with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University in December of 1962.

    Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Merle Brown Vance; daughters, Julie Pierce (Bill), Joy Vance; son, Mark Vance (Julie); grandchildren, Will Pierce, Wes Pierce, Brooke Vance, and Courtney Vance; and great-granddaughter, Avery Pierce, all of Collinsville.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Vance; brothers, Roland Vance and Joe Vance; and sisters, Rubye Harrison, Jerry Ethridge and Wanda Richmond.

    Pallbearers will be Will Pierce, Wes Pierce, Ricky Vance, Ronald Vance, Charles Harrison, Roger Harrison, Bobby Harrison, Ike Ethridge, and Van Richmond. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Vance, Jr., Albert Vance, and Rod Richmond.
