Bikers to host toy run Dec. 5

    Organizers are busy gearing up for the Fifth Annual Bikers United For Children Toy Run,which rolls through Meridian Dec. 5.

    Registration for the run starts at 10 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Northeast Conference Center in Meridian. Participants should bring one new toy to donate, with the donations going to Wesley House. Coffee and refreshments will be served and the ride will kick off at 1 p.m.

    Organizer Billy Tisdale says riders of all ages, from teenagers with sport bikes – to older riders with trikes – have participated in the past.

    “We had a really good turnout last year,” he said. “We had about 100 riders.”

    Tisdale said staff at NAS Meridian have been supportive as well, raising money and collecting toys through the year.

    Toys can also be dropped off at College Park United Methodist Church, Northside Church of the Nazarene, Ed Chaney Tire Center Inc., Auto Plus Insurance, and Quality Paint and Body.

    Riders will go through downtown Meridian to College Park United Methodist Church where where a lunch of chili, soup and cornbread will be provided.
