MIAMI (AP) — The latest on the trial of a South Florida man accused of killing his wife and then posting a picture of her body on Facebook (all times local):

A jury has convicted a South Florida man of second-degree murder after he killed his wife and posted a photo of her corpse on Facebook.
The verdict Wednesday came at the end of the trial for 33-year-old Derek Medina. He claimed he shot his wife in self-defense in the August 2013 killing of 27-year-old Jennifer Alfonso. Medina told police in a videotaped statement he shot his wife during a fight in which she threatened him with a knife.
Medina told police he posted the Facebook photo of Alfonso’s bloody body to show family what happened and raise claims that he was abused by his wife.
Prosecutors contended Medina killed his wife because she threatened to leave him. Alfonso’s 10-year-old daughter was home when her mother was killed but did not witness the shooting.
He faces up to life in prison.

A jury has resumed deliberating the fate of a man who says he acted in self-defense when he fatally shot his wife and posted a photo of her dead body on Facebook.
Jurors in Miami returned Wednesday to debate the case of 33-year-old Derek Medina. They began deliberations Tuesday night following more than two weeks of testimony.
Medina told police in a videotaped statement he shot his 27-year-old wife Jennifer Alfonso after years of abuse and during an argument in which she assaulted him with a knife.
He faces life in prison if convicted of murder in the August 2013 killing.
Medina says he posted the Facebook photo to show family what he did and why. Prosecutors say Medina killed Alfonso because she threatened to leave him. They say she didn’t have a knife.

Jurors got the case of 33-year-old Derek Medina on Tuesday but did not reach a verdict. The 12-person panel was to continue Wednesday.
