East Mississippi Community College swept an early season basketball series at Meridian Community College Thursday evening, with the women winning 68-52 and the men winning 67-53.

For the EMCC women, freshman Quantesha Patterson led with 31 points on 11 of 16 field goals, and she also tallied her first collegiate double double with 11 rebounds. Patterson had three blocks as well.

Camry Jones and Tianna Germain added 12 and 10 points to EMCC’s total, respectively.

In the men’s game, Daniel Simmons led the Lions with 16 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Jahyde Gardiner finished with her 12th career double-doube with 14 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Nat Dixon added 13 points for the Lions.

Both EMCC teams are 2-0 on the season and will play next Thursday at home against East Central Community College.
