It’s that time of year again when early holiday shoppers will have the opportunity to attend an event that enters a new decade and a new location.
The 31st Annual Homemakers Arts and Craft show usually held at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park will take place this year at the Tommy E. Dulaney Center.
“We decided to move the event this year, in hopes of being more visible,” said Lauderdale County Extension Agent Patty Swearingen.
There will be 96 vendors with an array of crafts to sell that include birdhouses, painted light bulbs, T-shirts, jams and jellies, jewelry, iron and metal works, canned goods, wood items, monogrammed clothing, wreaths, and Christmas items, along with baked goods consisting of caramel cakes, cookies, and cupcakes.
Newton resident Debbie Wall said this is her fifth year to participate in the show, selling items made in her shop, Wreaths & More.
“I will have wreaths, handpainted door hangers, mailbox covers, wooden ornaments, bullet jewelry, and lots of pom pom bows,” Wall said.
Sisters Tammy McManus and Brandi Dial say they are very excited about the upcoming show.
“This is our first year, and we can’t wait to be a part of it,” McManus said. “Some items from our shop, Stitchin Sisters, will include monogrammed shirts, appliqued bags, purses and Christmas shirts.”
Swearingen said this is a great way for shoppers to come out and get a jump start on their Christmas shopping.
