Southern Cast Products President Daniel Wile confirmed the purchase.

“Our footprint in Meridian has grown since our founding here in 1979,” Wile said. “We’ve had multiple expansions.”

District 1 Supervisor Hank Florey called Southern Cast Products a great corporate citizen for the county.

“They’ve been here 25 years, have been very stable, well-managed and well-financed,” Florey said. “Just a well-run family business.”

Board President Kyle Rutledge said the sale was another example of how the county can help existing employers grow and expand their business.

    In other board action Monday:

    • Approved the purchase of 125 pagers for the Lauderdale County Volunteer Fire Department.

    • VFD Coordinator Allan Dover said it would cost $289,000 for the county to purchase a new fire engine for Whynot. If the supervisors did not purchase one before Nov. 1, the cost would go up.

    • Approved to hire Lance Moore as an arson investigator for the VFD.

    • Approved the hiring of four part-time workers to work Saturday garbage detail at satellites A, B, C and D.

    • Approved a budget amendment to add a grant award for the walking trail at Q.V. Sykes Park.

    • Approved to accept a check from Mississippi Power Company on its Kemper Plant refund.
