James Round Sr.

    DECATUR – Services for James Burnell Round Sr. will be today at 3 p.m. at Decatur United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery with Chancellor Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Round, 97, of Noxapater, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at Mississippi Veteran’s Home in Collins. He retired after 32 years at the VA Hospital in Jackson. He was an avid gardener that no one beat at growing tomatoes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing while he was able to do so. He loved spending time with his family. Church was very important to him and he attended Noxapater Baptist Church as long as his health allowed him.

    Survivors include his son, James B. Round “Jimmy” (Susan) of Florence; grandchildren, Steven Fryant (Traci), Lindsay R. French (Trey), James Fryant (Lindsey), Brett Round (Suzanah), and Anna Fryant; and 12 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceeded in death by his wives, Arcenia “Cenia” Round and Hazel Young Round; daughter, Anna Frances Fryant; and four siblings.

    His family would like to say a special thank you to the Veteran’s Home in Collins and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their concern and care.

    Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
