FBI seeks help with ID of man seen in Meridian

   The FBI is asking for the public’s help identifying a man seen in Meridian last month. Agents and detectives believe the man may be able to help them identify and locate a missing and endangered teen.

    He may now be traveling through California or neighboring states, an FBI press release states.

    The man was last seen driving a compact blue car with stolen Alabama license plate 58DZ806 on the rear of the vehicle. The car was similar in make and model to a Mazda Protégé. When last seen, on Sept. 29, the car was missing the right rear hubcap and did not have a front license plate.

     The man is white and in his 50s or 60s. He has short-cut white/gray hair and a receding hair line. He was last seen with trimmed salt-and-pepper facial hair. Images show the man wearing a dark colored T-shirt, blue jeans, white Nike high-top tennis shoes, and black prescription glasses. He claims to be from Hawaii, and might be seen panhandling or sleeping in improvised shelters.

    He may be in the company of a white female teenager. The unidentified female was last seen with waist-length brown hair and wearing a brown T-shirt, blue jeans, and brown Nike tennis shoes.

    The man’s current whereabouts are unknown. On Sept. 28 and 29, the man and the female teenager were seen in Laguna Beach, Calif.. On Sept. 12, they were seen at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Meridian. He also may have traveled through Bessemer, Ala. on Sept., 11.  It is likely the male and female drove from Mississippi to California between Sept. 12 and 28, the press release states.

     Anyone with information about the man’s identity or who saw him when he was in Mississippi, is asked to call the FBI in Jackson at 601-948-5000 or their local police or FBI field office.
