Man charged in gang-related shooting

    A Meridian man accused in the gang-related shooting a 13-year-girl in September is facing multiple charges, authorities said.

    Kendrell Clayton, 19, of 2514 Grand View Ave., was arrested Thursday and charged with shooting into a dwelling, shooting into a vehicle and participating in or conducting gang activity, Meridian Police Department Detective Dareall Thompson said.

    Thompson said the shooting, which occurred around 9:02 p.m. on Sept. 23 in the 3100 block of Davis Street, was in retaliation for a shooting  earlier that day.

    Three teenagers, Elijawua Ray Hodge, 16, Jimmy M. Johnson, 16, and Kenzavion Woodard, 15, were charged Wednesday in connection to the first shooting, which occurred in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Drive at about 1 a.m.  on Sept. 23.

    Friday night police arrested Montrell “G-Money” Croft in connection with the first shooting, Thompson said.
