    Upcoming programs/events at local and area public, private, home and faith-based schools:

Thursday

    • Lamar Elementary School: End of first nine weeks.

Friday & Oct. 12

    • Lamar Elementary School: Fall break, school closed.

Oct. 14

    • Lamar Elementary School: Talent Showcase, 8:30 a.m., cafetorium.

Oct. 16

    • West Lauderdale High School: Homecoming, 7 p.m.

    • Lamar Elementary School: Third-graders will go see “My BFG (Big Friendly Giant), 8:45 a.m., MSU Riley Center.

 

Oct. 21

    • Lamar Elementary School: Second-graders’ play “Once Upon a Lily Pad,” 8:30 a.m., cafetorium.

    Upcoming programs/events at East Central Community College, Decatur campus (unless otherwise noted):

Oct. 12

    • Welding class, from 3-7 p.m., Louisville/Winston County Career-Technical Center. Class will meet Mondays and Thursdays for eight consecutive weeks. Cost: $150 per student and the class includes instruction in MIG, TIG, stick and gas welding. Shane McDaniel will serve as instructor.
