The 25th Annual Clarke County Forestry and Wildlife Festival at Archusa Water Park in Quitman takes place Saturday.
Clarke County Chamber of Commerce secretary Ann Potuk said the outdoor event that features a wide variety of activities continues to grow each year.
“This year we have some great entertainment and events planned for the day,” Potuk said.
Events include a children’s breakfast with special characters, a car and truck show, Kiddie-Land with Nickelodeon-type children’s games, arts and crafts, a bass fishing tournament, equipment displays, a blood mobile, and a Miss Clarke County pageant contest.
Potuk said special music this year will be provided by the Blackwood Brothers Quartet, and the Lane Chapel Quintet.
Other entertainment includes Tyler Carroll and Pineridge (bluegrass), Adam Boldin, Trails End Band (country and older classic rock), as well as local talent.
Potuk said Ted Mangum from Ellisville we be on hand with his “Little Red Wagon,” an 18-foot-long Radio Flyer wagon duplicate powered by a 460 cubic inch engine. New to the festival will be magician David Talley, and a carnival ride dubbed Pirate’s Revenge.”
More than 30 vendors will sell arts, crafts and food.
Some 50 to 60 people are expected to participate in the annual car show this year, said Paul Brown, who is a co-organizer for that event.
“We will be giving away over 30 trophies, door prizes and a drawing for two $50 gift certificates,” Brown said. “At the end of the day we will have a drawing for the car show participants for a two-night stay in any Pat Harrison Water Park cabin.”
Potuk said the public is invited to attend the festival, bring a lawn chair and spend the day.
