Theresa Murry Farrar

MACON – Services for Theresa Murry Farrar will be held today at 2 p.m. at Independent Methodist Church, with Bro. Barry Hathcock officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon, with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Farrar, 86, of Macon, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Farrar was born in Electric Mills to the late Elmer Nathaniel and Alver Lee Bolls Murry. She graduated from Macon High School and attended the University of Mississippi.
She married William Polk Farrar and was a homemaker. She kept the nursery at First United Methodist Church for many years and later was a charter member of Independent Methodist Church. Together with her husband, she owned Murry Chevrolet auto dealership, Murry Supply Auto Parts House and the Dairy Dream restaurant, and served as secretary and bookkeeper for these businesses. They also owned Farrar-Murry Farms, where they were involved in cattle ranching and tree farming. She was known to be a very astute business lady.
Mrs. Farrar was a Life Member of the Macon Junior Auxiliary, where she held several offices. She was a member of the Frith Lake Club, the Macon Country Club, and, at various times, was a member of several bridge clubs. While Mrs. Farrar enjoyed traveling and reading, the true joy of her life was the time she spent with her family: the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Farrar is survived by her three daughters: Elaine Farrar Turner (Steve) of Macon, Jane Farrar Thomas (Mike) of Lauderdale and Leigh Farrar Cade (Tommy) of Lucedale; her grandchildren: Steven (Ashley) Turner, Brent (Lauren) Turner, Michelle (Drew) Covington, Melissa (Ken) Misso, Thomas (Emily) Cade;and Clint (Kristel) Cade; and 11 great-grandchildren: Landon, Cooper, Reagan and Max Turner, Taylor Agnew, Farrar and Kinsley Misso, and Mason, Logan, Jack and Sawyer Cade.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
