Virginia Wright Williamson

Virginia Wright Williamson, 36, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Demopolis, Ala., as the result of a tragic accident on the Black Warrior River, one of her favorite places on earth, the spot she called her “happy place.” Ms. Williamson was born Dec. 19, 1978, in Meridian. A graduate of Meridian High School and the University of Tennessee, she was employed as a Horticulture Trainer in the Vocational Rehabilitation Department of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians in Philadelphia. Ms. Williamson was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Ms. Williamson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ann and Lester F. Williamson Sr., and Virginia and William H. Giles, all of Meridian.
She is survived by her parents, Cathy and Lester F. Williamson Jr.; two brothers, Lester (Les) F. Williamson III, of Washington, D.C., and John Thomas Williamson and his wife, Anna, of Houston, Texas, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a host of friends. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Bentley.
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Bob Peden and the Dr. W.D. Pigott officiating. Visitation will be today, one hour prior to services at the church. Pallbearers will be Andrew Armstrong, Justin Dear, Randall Gaither, Will Hammack, Johnnie Johnson, Brandon Pratt, Ben Webb, and Buddy Webb.
Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
