Man shot by deputy charged
Todd Michael Riley, who was shot by a Lauderdale County deputy on July 9, has been formally charged by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department with felon in possession of a firearm, according to Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.
Calhoun said the case is being handled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations. Officials say Riley was shot after he attempted to run over a deputy with his truck at a convenience store on Highway 19 South in the community of Vimville.
Riley is currently recovering in a local hospital.
