Robert “Red” Kent

    Services for Robert “Red” Kent will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Webb Chapel with Bro. James Williams and Bro. Jeff Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Mr. Kent, 75, of Meridian, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Specialty Hospital. He was a longtime horseman, team roper, and bull rider. He coached many young cowboys and cowgirls throughout his life. No one had a greater love for bull riding, the bulls, and rodeo.

    He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Moody Kent; daughter, Lynn Kent Alexander (James); grandson, Lane Hamilton; brother, Dell Kent; sister in laws, Joy and Snooky Kent; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florrie Kent; brothers, Charles and Billy Kent; sister, Edwina Scruggs; and special nephew, “Boo” Blackwell.

    Pallbearers will be Colin Kent, Kevin “Buck” Wilson, Adam Black, Daniel Benefield, Koty Blackwell, Daniel Napp, and Clint Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Hoffer, William “Peanut” Young, Eric Melton, Joey Miller, and Johnny Ralph Morgan.
