Three arrested in Choctaw County shooting death

Three men have been arrested in Ward, Ala., and charged with capital murder in relation to the June 25 shooting of Clayton Bryant, according to officials with the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Choctaw County Sheriff Scott Lolley said Willie Desmond Witherspoon and Marcus Deshawn Davidson were taken into custody by midnight Friday. Joe Nathan Johnson Jr. was taken into custody later that day, after a four- to five-hour manhunt, Lolley said.
On June 25, the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a person shot at 43970 Highway 17 in Ward, Ala. Bryant, was found by sheriff officials and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Lolley said more arrests could be forthcoming, as the incident remains under investigation.
Lolley thanked several agencies for their help in the investigation. Agencies involved were; Clarke County Sheriff’s Office, Marengo County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Butler Police Department, Demopolis Police Department, Pennington Police Department, 17th Circuit Drug Task Force, Alabama Highway Patrol, Alabama Game and Fish, Alabama Department of Corrections tracking team, and the U.S. Marshalls.
