After previously being tricked by a phone scam, 78-year-old Reuben Little of Meridian refuses to be fooled again.

Little says that he received a phone call whereby the caller claimed to be from Publishers Clearing House.

“When I got to talking to them, they said I had $10 million dollars coming, and a car, too,” Little said.

Knowing he did not sign up for any Publishers Clearing House prize, Little said he realized the call was a scam.

“I told them, ‘I know there has to be a payment with it.’ And they said, ‘Yes,'” Little said. “They told me to go to Western Union to wire $399.99.”

After asking the caller’s name, Little said he told them that he would be informing the police about their call.

The caller hung up, Little said.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department advises residents to not talk to these type of callers.

“They are good at scamming people and getting information out of you,” Calhoun said. “If you continue talking to them, you’ll find it’s almost always them trying to get something from you, before they ever do anything for you. Hang up the phone; quit talking to them.”
