Dr. and Mrs. Robert Anthony Hermetz of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Marie, to James Kenan Pittman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bo Pittman of Meridian.
The wedding will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 6 p.m. at NorthPark Church in Meridian.
Miss Hermetz is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Evelyn Bond of Meridian and the late Mr. Gene Coy Bond Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Hermetz of Foley, Ala.
The bride-elect received a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Southern Mississippi, and a master’s degree in education from Mississippi College. She is a graduate of Meridian High School.
While at USM, she was a member of the Transfer Leadership Board, Baptist Student Union, and was a conversation partner to international students while pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Upon attending Mississippi College, she graduated with highest honors and received her state certification in special education.
Miss Hermetz is employed by Clinton Junior High School as an Inclusion and Resource teacher.
Mr. Pittman is the grandson of Mrs. Nell Mayatt and the late Jack Mayatt and the late Biffle and Jerry Pittman.
The bridegroom-elect received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, with a minor in Spanish. He is a graduate of Homewood High School of Birmingham, Ala.
While at UAB, he participated in Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and in theatre productions, including “The Grapes of Wrath.” While at UWA, James received a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and was nominated for the Emerging Leadership Award.
Mr. Pittman is employed at Hinds Behavioral Health as a Treatment Team therapist.
A reception will be held at Northwood Country Club.
