Meridian Police Department
The Meridian Police Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Wednesday and 8:43 a.m. Thursday:
• Simple assault, two counts – Mark Ruffin, 42, 200 23rd Ave. A, Meridian. Ruffin is also charged with contempt of court.
• Simple assault – Jarada Allen, born in 1994. Allen is also charged with petit larceny.
• Trespassing – Tequan J. Neal, born in 1994.
• Simple assault – Larry Huggins Jr., born in 1991.
• Simple assault – Diedra C. Houston, born in 1994.
• Disorderly conduct – Quincharles McWilliams, born in 1991.
• Taking away of a motor vehicle – Jeremiah E. Rush, born in 1991.
Incident Reports
The Meridian Police Department reported the following incidents from Wednesday to Thursday:
Auto Burglaries
• 3700 block of 13th Street, Meridian.
• 1200 block of 16th Avenue, Meridian.
• 3600 block of 24th Avenue, Meridian.
Residential Burglaries
• 1400 block of Martin Luther King Junior Drive, Meridian.
Robbery
• 2900 block of 18th Street, Meridian.
Shootings
• 1900 block of Ninth Avenue, Meridian.
• 1600 block of 13th Avenue, Meridian.
Meridian police responded to 4 shots-fired calls. Officers were unable to find evidence to support the calls.
Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests between 8:44 a.m. Wednesday and 8:43 a.m. Thursday:
• Failure to pay child support, two counts – Avery L. Brooks, 35, 1616 18th St., Meridian. Brooks is also charged with public drunk.
• Fleeing and eluding in a motor vehicle – Vernon Ray Cutway, 62, 49 Grady Leach Road, Lawrence.
• Armed robbery – Aubrey Maurice Jordan, 23, 4524 Highway 39 N., C-52, Meridian. Jordan is also charged with felon in possession of a firearm and failure to pay (justice court).
