Lockheed Martin looking for vendors

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is currently undergoing its second phase of renovations, and according to Natalie Purvis of the Mississippi Development Authority, the company needs help.
“Lockheed is doing an outreach to small businesses to form a database of suppliers they can go to for services they will need for the plant’s current renovations,” Purvis said.
A lunch and learn meet will be held at Union Station on May 28. Small business owners interested in contracting for work are encouraged to attend and have their name added to the database, Purvis said.
“Contracts they’ve had in the past were for landscaping, janitorial services, asphalt and concrete work,” Purvis said.
Karmyn Norwood, general manager for Lockheed Martin, will discuss vendor services.
“I really want to get the word out as much as possible for people to come out to listen to Karmyn Norwood,” Purvis said. “If you get on that database, you will at least have an opportunity to be in line for the next project that comes up.”
While Lockheed Martin is known mostly for its work in aeronautics, the company also researches and develops advanced information technology. The company is headquartered in Bethesda, Md., in the Washington, D.C., area. Lockheed Martin employs 116,000 people worldwide and is one of the world’s largest defense contractors.
