HBCU college fair Monday at Carlia E. Oatis building

    Representatives from several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) throughout Mississippi, as well as Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana and Texas will be in Meridian Monday to recruit students from Meridian and surrounding areas.

    “A Different World: The HBCU Experience,” will be presented from 1 p.m.-6 p.m., at the Carlia.E. Oatis Building (Council of Organizations), located at 814 45th Ave. The event is sponsored by members of the Council of Organizations, along with the family of the late Robert M. Buford.

    “We’re expecting representatives and alumni from more than 12 colleges and universities to attend this college fair,” said Jaclyn Buford, who is the daughter of Buford and an organizer of the event.

    The college fair is open to high school and community college students.
