Meridian tops West, Union; Lamar notches road win

COLLINSVILLE — J’Mar Smith smacked a two-run home rund and scored two more runs as Meridian High School topped West Lauderdale High School 6-2.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the first and added four more in the third.
Meridian’s Jacoby Cole added two runs and a pair of RBI.
For the Knights, Reed Michel struck out two batters, while Chase McClelland recorded an RBI.
MERIDIAN BEATS UNION
Meridian scored six runs in the top of the first inning and went on to defeat Union 10-6.
For the Yellowjackets, Austin Hood and Adam Richardson each recorded two singles.
UNION EDGES WEST LAUDERDALE
Cameron Sones smacked a two-run home run and Walker Kelly delivered a grand slam and Union edged out West Lauderdale 6-5.
RAIDERS RECORD ROAD WIN
Grayson Calhoun tossed six innings, allowing just one earned run and stuck out four batters to lift Lamar School to a 9-5 win over Heritage.
At the plate, Calhoun added two hits, including a double, and recorded a RBI.
Additionally for Lamar (1-1), Tyler Hinson tallied three hits, including a home run, and two RBI, Dalton McHenry picked up four hits and a pair of RBI and J.D. Roberts smacked two hits and stole two bases.
The Raiders will be back in action Tuesday at Pickens in Alabama.
