“It was an amazing event that God placed on my heart to organize,” event coordinator Sarah Avera said. “I am glad I got the chance to reach out and hopefully impacted some one in the process.”
Avera said for the fundraiser she spoke to students at Southeast, Northeast, West Lauderdale, Clarkdale, Lamar, Russell and Calvary Christian schools in Lauderdale County.
“We are very proud and pleased to have been a part of this event and we are proud of all those who participated,” Southeast Lauderdale High School Principal Julius T. Moore said. “We are extremely proud of Sarah Avera.”
Ashley Luke, whose daughter, Maddie, has cystic fibrosis, said she is grateful to Avera for her efforts to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“God laid something on her heart and she stepped forward and made a difference in Maddie’s life and all people with cystic fibrosis,” Luke said. “I cannot express the gratitude that I have for her and all the volunteers from Southeast school. I know from experience the hard work and hours of organization and planning that it takes to have a successful fundraising event.”
Avera encouraged other youths to get out in the community and try to make a difference.

“Even though we are young, we can make the biggest impact as long as we keep God first,” Avera said.
