Services for Robert Oliver (Bob) Rawls will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ed Knox, Reverend Malcolm Lewis and Reverend Marvin Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Meridian Memorial Park with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rawls, 80, of the Whynot community passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 10, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Rawls was born in Basic City, Miss. on Sept. 1, 1934. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Crawford, on May 13, 1958. He was retired from the Meridian Star newspaper, and was past owner of the Bible Book Store in Meridian. Bob’s passions were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and telling others about Him, his family and his two grandsons. He will be remembered as a soul winner and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy who will cherish their memories; daughter, Rhonda Moore and her husband Vance; two grandchildren, Crawford and Christian Moore; sister, Martha Gower.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby Rawls and his brother, Jimmy Rawls.
Pallbearers will be Steve Winstead, Bud Waddell, Scott Jay, Bernie Herrington and Jimmy Creel. Honorary pallbearers will be James (Bo) Sessions, Cliff Partridge, Dr. Mike Nanney, Reverend CC Burns, and Frankie Crawford.
The family wishes to thank two very special people, Laura Bell and Grayson Pierce for the compassionate care they gave Bob.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteous, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8.
