Funeral services for Myrtle Jane Thomas Bell will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. James Gordon and Jerry Johnson officiating. Interment
will be held in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell, of Meridian, passed away on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 at her residence. She was born Aug. 5, 1934, and grew up in Meridian. She served 27 years in the ministry with her first husband, the Rev. Henry A. Thomas, in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Mrs. Bell was an accomplished pianist and wrote several songs recorded by gospel artists. She was a member of Broadway Music Incorporated (BMI) and a charter member of Cathedral Assembly of God church in Meridian. Later in life, she returned to school and became a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Survivors include her husband, William J. Bell; son, Henry E. “Buster” Thomas and wife, Cheryl; grandson, Anderson E. “Andy” Thomas and wife, Emily, of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Elaine Clark and husband, Charles, and Merle Locklear and husband, Charlie; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Claudie Flowers; and her first husband, the Rev. Henry A. Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Brett Hollaway, Charlie Robinson, Corey Massey, Christian Massey, Ricky Robinson, and Donnie Overstreet.
Visitation will Monday, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
