- Runners cross over a log at Lazy Acres Plantation during last year's Hillbilly Run. This year's run is on Oct. 11.
Ever seen a Hillbilly Run? What’s that, you say?
It’s a 5K obstacle race around Lazy Acres Plantation in Chunky, – winding through the Pumpkin Patch and Hillbilly Holler, where farm-themed obstacles, angry hillbillies and lots of mud may be encountered! Race Day is Oct. 11 at the farm on Lazy Acres Road. All race profits will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The 3rd Annual Lazy Acres Hillbilly Run is not just a race against the clock … It’s a hoopin’ hollerin’ good time! Throughout the race, runners will encounter a number of natural and man-made obstacles composed of mud, water, hay, and pumpkins. Participants can expect lots of climbing, crawling, diving (along with running) to the finish line – all while avoiding those backwoods hillbillies!
Registration in the race includes admission into the Lazy Acres Pumpkin Patch upon completion of the race, a free commemorative T-shirt and prizes for top finishers. Spectators may purchase admission to the Pumpkin Patch at the gate on race day. Admission cost is $9 plus tax and includes access to a 4.5-acre corn maze, a giant jumping pillow, pig race shows, and many more family-friendly attractions.
Costumes are encouraged and a prize will be awarded for the best costume! When designing costumes, please remember Lazy Acres Pumpkin Patch is a very family-friendly atmosphere with many young children present.
On race day, participants should bring an official form of identification (license, passport, photo ID, etc.) Minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Runners will be covered in mud and hay after the race, so towels, extra clothes and shoes and appropriate weather gear are suggested. The race will take place rain or shine.
Register online at http://lazy-acres.ticketleap.com/2014-hillbilly-run/ by Oct. 6 to receive a free race t-shirt. On-site registrations will be accepted on race day, but T-shirts are not guaranteed to those registering late. Note: After you complete your on-line registration, you MUST print your receipt and bring it with you the day of the race in order to get your bib. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
