• NorthPark Church hosts several support groups each week. Griefshare meets Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Single & Parenting meets Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Divorce Care meets Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30. NorthPark Church is located at 7770 Highway 39 North in Meridian, just across from the North East Middle School.
• “Country Alcoholics Anonymous” meets each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. out Highway 493 North, past the Bailey post office. Veer left on to GumLog Road, 1/2 mile to club house by baseball field on right. For information call (601) 737-2463.
• 6 p.m. — The International Singing Brakeman Association meets every third Thursday at the Best Western Hospitality Room on Frontage Road. Please bring a snack/dish to share. We will eat at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5. For more information, call Glyn Jones at (601) 581-1601.
• Otha Barham plays guitar and sings easy listening music each Thursday from 2 to 4 at the Daily Grind, 4820 Poplar Springs Drive.
• Noon — Refuge Christian Recovery, a meeting for women whose loved ones suffer from alcohol and drugs, meets every Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Founders Room, 905 23rd Avenue. Call 601-693-1133.
Saturday, Oct. 19
8:30 a.m. — The State Games of Mississippi presents the third annual Boo Run & Mini Boo, with zombies, zombies everywhere. The 1 mile Mini-Boo Run starts at 8:30 a.m. There will be a 5K Boo Run at 9 a.m. The event will take place at Bonita Lakes Recreation Park. Register online at www.stategamesofms.org.
9 a.m. — The 26th Annual Day in the Country will be held at the Causeyville Fire Department. Festivities run from 9 a.m. until. There will be barbecue plates, homemade cakes and chitterling plates. There will also be a raffle with a $500 prize. There is a $1 donation per raffle ticket or six tickets for $5. The event will feature a flea market, crafts, entertainment and much more. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church will have its Fall Food Festival at the church located at 40th Street and Poplar Springs Drive. Slow-roasted pulled pork plates will be available for $7 and will include baked beans, cole slaw and Mississippi bread. Delivery will be available in Meridian for orders of five or more plates. Whole Boston butts can be purchased by reservation only for $30. There will also be a baked and frozen goods sale, featuring homemade cakes, pies, cookies, breads, frozen casseroles and homemade vegetable soup and chili. Proceeds will go to local missions: South Harbor Shelter; Care Lodge; Meals on Wheels; and Love’s Kitchen.
10 a.m. — Frost Bridge Camp, 14 miles east of Waynesboro on Hwy. 84 will sponsor a fall festival from 10 a.m. until… Vendors will be selling various items. 2-4 p.m. — Central Baptist Church (formerly South Side Baptist Church), located at 2511 C St., in Meridian, will host a “Meet & Greet.” There will be fellowship with former pastors and friends. For more information call 601-693-4288.
7 p.m. — AW Productions and S.I.P. Performing Arts Inc presents 2013 State-Wide Gospel Talent Search on Saturday, October 19, at 7 p.m., at Hawkins Elementary School, located at 526 Forrest Street, in Hattiesburg. Looking for Soloist, Groups, Choirs, and Praise Teams to be apart of this event. Registration is required. Winners will receive Cash Prize, Studio Time, and much more. Hosted by Gospel Recording Artist Krista Mckenzie, and Musical Appearance by Sunday’s Best Finalist Alexis Speight. Tickets are $12 in advance, and $15 at the door, portion of proceeds will be donated to the Gilmore Family, because Jordan Gilmore, 7-years old was hit by a hit and run driver, and is currently in ICU at Jackson, Miss., hospital. 7 p.m. — Queen City Gypsies dancers will have a 7 p.m. Pre-Halloween Show at the Temple Theater Ballroom. The evening’s entertainment includes more than 20 belly dancers from Mississippi and Tennessee, live music, a bit of original theater, and old-fashioned fortune-telling. There will be vendors of costumes, jewelry, handmade soaps, and candles. Admission is $15 at the door, but if a person comes dressed in a Halloween costume, $10. A fun-filled two-hour show! This is a family-friendly show for all ages. Concessions available for purchase. Security provided by off-duty police officers.”

10:30 a.m. — Central Baptist Church (formerly South Side Baptist Church), located at 2511 C St.,
in Meridian, will host an Anniversary Worship Service beginning at 10:30 a.m., with lunch, fellowship, reminiscing and memorabilia. Sunday school starts at 9:30 a.m. For more information and reservations, call 601-693-4288.
10:45 a.m. — John and Dody Martin from Brooktondale, NY, will be singing at Christian Fellowship IM Church, 2414 State Blvd., in Meridian. All are welcome to attend. The church pastor is the Rev. S.D. Garrett.
5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. — A Halloween Party hosted by Uniquely You will be held at The Carousel at Highland Park. Part of the proceeds will benefit breast cancer awareness. The event will feature gift raffles throughout the night, free carousel rides and popcorn. Free food and drinks will be provided. Tickets for adults are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. The East Lauderdale United Methodist Covenant Revival will take place at the following times and locations: Oct. 20 at Lauderdale UMC at 6 p.m., 3632 Lauderdale Road in Lauderdale, Miss. Bishop James E. Swanson will be the guest speaker; Oct. 21 at Cornerstone UMC, 1501 16th Ave., in Meridian. The guest speaker will be Eddie Edwards; Oct. 22 at Wesley Chapel UMC, 512 18th Ave., in Meridian. The guest speaker will be Wesley Pepper. Special offering on Sunday night of canned good and offering to Wesley House.
