Authorities say the teenager killed in a boating accident Tuesday on the Industrial Canal near Gulfport Lake died of a head injury.

Coroner Gary Hargrove tells The Sun Herald an autopsy found 15-year-old Mason Turner, of Saucier, died of blunt force trauma to the head. Hargrove says Turner and another teen were riding on an inner tube being pulled by a 21-foot boat when the boat went around a curve and the tube slid out toward the bank and struck a tree.

Department of Marine Resources spokeswoman Melissa Scallan said Craig Dedeaux was the driver of the boat. His son, who has not been identified, also was injured and is in stable condition.
