    • “Country Alcoholics Anonymous” meets each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. out Highway 493 North, past the Bailey post office. Veer left on to GumLog Road, 1/2 mile to club house by baseball field on right. For information call (601) 737-2463.

    • 6 p.m. — The International Singing Brakeman Association meets every third Thursday at the Best Western Hospitality Room on Frontage Road. Please bring a snack/dish to share.     • Swim registration is under way, the city of Meridian Parks and Recreation office announced. The dates for swimming lessons are July 8-18. Classes are offered as early as 9 a.m. and as late 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation office at 601-485-1802.

    6-7:30 p.m. — The Honorable Veldore Young will be the guest speaker for Voices of Hope: Celebrating National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in the Fellowship Hall of New Canaan Baptist Church, 4822 26th St., in Meridian. The event is sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Meridian Affiliate, Alliance Health Center, NfusionX and Weems Community Mental Health Center. Pre-registration is not required. Sunday, July 21

    5 p.m. — Central Baptist Church will feature the Feature Film – Homerun – in its first Meridian showing, July 21 at 5 p.m. This Sizzlin’ Summer Movie Event will feature All American fun for the entire family: hot dogs, baseball, and homemade ice cream. This is a free event at 2511 C Street, just East of 22nd Street on C Street before the downtown bridge.

    6-8:30 p.m. — Broadmoor Baptist Church located at 5426 Hwy 39 North (just north of Hardee’s) , Meridian, MS will be having our  Vacation Bible School — God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under the Stars, Monday, July 22 through Wednesday, July 24 from 6-8:30 p.m. There will be classes for all children through teens. Please call Chris Floyd at 601-323-4400 to pre-register your child.

    7 p.m. — The Meridian High School Class of 1968 will be celebrating their 45th class reunion August 3 at the Holiday Inn, North Frontage Road in Meridian. Special room rates at the Holiday Inn Frontage Road will apply for all ’68 graduates. Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. A cash bar and buffet will be provided along with a DJ playing 50s, 60s and 70s music. The cost is $25 per person and $50 per couple. Saturday, Aug. 10

    5:30-9:30 p.m. — The 9th annual Bright Lights Belhaven Nights street festival will be held in the historic Belhaven Neighborhood. Named a Top 20 Event in the Southeast for the month of August by the Southeast Tourism Society, this family friendly event will feature live music on five stages, as well as art vendors and food from local restaurants.
